The Law= a mirror

So why we do we look in a mirror? We want to make sure we know how we look right, otherwise we might seriously embarass ourselves.

This is what the Bible (or the law) does for us. It gives us a true reflection of what we are really like but more on the inside. True, we don't measure up to perfection, for all have fallen short of that. Romans 3:23

Go ahead. Pick out your gorgeous self - this is how we see ourselves on the inside. Righteous, honorable, macho, beautiful - maybe even a little older and so much wiser but basically we think we're just right fine the way we are. We may be surrounded by kooky people but hey, what's a great person like us to do?

When we live without knowing the Truth we may actually appear to be quite different to other people than what we think. What we may discover is that we are self-centered, angry, impatient, resentful, bitter, haughty, arrogant, pious, mean-spirited, negative, sarcastic, cynical, cruel, back-biting, gossipers or perhaps fearful, hateful, rebellous, dishonest, cheating, depressed, immature people. YIKES! Comparably speaking, your pesonality could be viewed by others like this without you really knowing for sure.

Now that's what the Law is for, so we have a true picture of what we can and should strive for. We have ALL dealt with issues and still do to an extent. But the sooner you see the truth and start making adjustments the better. You start to realize you may not be where you want to be but you are so thankful that you're not like you use to be!

James 1
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

God will exchange our sin for life and He will take our ashes for beauty. Isaiah 61:2-3

As we continue on with our journey with the Lord we will pull further and further away from the person we once were.

1 Corinthians 13:12 12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

Interesting Thought: Wouldn't we be interesting to know how other people truly viewed us?
