All people have sinned against God. But, God is infinitely holy and righteous. He punishes the sinner or the Law breaker. If He didn't, then His law is not law - for there is no law that is a law without a punishment. The punishment for breaking the Law is death, separation from God.  So what's the use?! What good is the Law if there's no way to keep it? Check it out Therefore, we sinners need a way to escape the righteous judgment of God.Since we are stained by sin and cannot keep the Law of God, then the only one who could do what we cannot is God Himself. That is why Jesus is God in flesh. He is both divine and human. He was made under the Law (Galatians 4:5-6) and He fulfilled it perfectly. Therefore, His sacrifice to God the Father on our behalf is of infinite value and is sufficient to cleanse all people from their sins and undo the offense to God. |
BUT WAIT!! Are you basically a good person that doesn't need this. I mean, you haven't killed anyone,right?  No adulterous affairs? Are you pretty much a "good ole boy or gal"? |
God IS Love. He doesn't just love us or use a conditional love whenever we've acted "good" but He is love. So, #1 He is incapable of lying and #2 He is incapable of "not loving you". He may hate sin but never you, just your sin. He respects your right to choose who you will serve (& yes, you will serve someone) but if not Him, He will love you all the way to Gates of Hell. "Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love." (1 John 4:8) "We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him." (1 John 4:16) |
